Welcome to the Super Bowl preview that's been 50 years in the making.
If you're headed out to a Super Bowl party on Sunday, you're going to want to make sure and print this entire page out because we're going to answer every question you could possibly have about Super Bowl 50.
We'll answer easy questions like: What channel is the game on?
We'll also answer harder questions like: When's the last time two SEC quarterbacks started against each other in a Super Bowl? We'll also answer everything in between, so grab some Super Bowl bean dip and let's get to the only Super Bowl 50 primer that you're going to need to read this year.
Super Bowl 50: Everything you need to know
What time does the Super Bowl start and how can I watch it?
The game is scheduled to kickoff at 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS. Of course, if you don't tune in until 6:30, then you'll miss all the fun that CBS has planned for Sunday. No one likes to miss out on fun, so make sure you have your TV set to CBS beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
Here's a complete rundown of everything you can expect to see Super Bowl Sunday on CBS:
- 11 a.m. ET: Super Bowl 50: Before they were pros (NFL films)
- Noon ET: Road to the Super Bowl (NFL Films)
- 1 p.m. ET: Phil Simms All-Iron Team: Super Bowl Edition
- 2-6 p.m. ET: The Super Bowl Today
- 6-6:30 p.m. ET: Super Bowl on CBS Kick-off Show
- 6:30 p.m. ET: Super Bowl 50
If for some reason you end up at a Super Bowl party that doesn't have a TV, I'm not sure how that would happen, but if it happens, don't worry, you're not out of luck, you can still watch the game.
Super Bowl 50 will be available on almost any device:
- Apple TV
- Roku
- Chromecast
- Xbox One
- Amazon Fire TV
- Android TV
- iPads
- Android tablets
Just click this link anytime after 2 p.m. ET, and you'll be set to go. If you're hoping to watch the game on your phone, that's possible, but you have to be a Verizon customer and you'll have to watch the game through the NFL Mobile app.
Where is the game being played?
If you've been reading any Super Bowl coverage this week, you've probably noticed that a lot of it's coming from San Francisco. However, that's not where the game is being played. The Panthers and Broncos will kick off from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, which is about 45 miles south of San Francisco.
The Broncos actually played in the first game ever at Levi's Stadium: A Week 2 preseason game in 2014 that Denver won 34-0. The Panthers have never played at Levi's Stadium.
What's the weather supposed to be like?
One month ago, there was a slight worry that El Nino would leave the Super Bowldrenched, but that's not going to be the case. The temperature is expected to be hoveringaround 70 degrees when the Broncos and Panthers kick off at 3:30 p.m. local time. At that point, you're going to see a lot of sunshine until about 5:39 p.m. PT, when the sun will finally set.
The last outdoor Super Bowl to hit the 70 degree mark at kickoff was Super Bowl XXXVII in San Diego, which was a balmy 81 degrees when the Raiders and Buccaneers kicked off.
Who's singing the national anthem?
The NFL basically waited until the last second to make this announcement, so you might've missed it. On Feb. 2, the league announced that Lady Gaga will be handling the anthem. There will also be a sign language version of the anthem, which will be handled by Academy Award winner Marlee Matlin.
If you follow Lady Gaga on Twitter, then you know that she's already been practicing, which should mean good things for our ears.
What's going on at halftime?
If you have to go to bathroom on Super Bowl Sunday, DON'T DO IT AT HALFTIME otherwise you'll miss Coldplay, who will be joined by Beyonce. Hopefully there's enough electricity in Santa Clara to run Beyonce's halftime show because the last time she performed at a Super Bowl, the electricity went out in the third quarter.
As for Coldplay, if their rehearsal show was any indication, the halftime show should be fun.
