Puppies are cute, adorable, sweet, and lovable. It's unfathomable why anyone would just throw one away. But that's what happened, literally, to a young puppy who was found in a trash can.
A 911 caller from a neighborhood in Tampa, Florida said that she heard a crying sound coming from the trash. The crying she heard was tiny yelps for help from a defenseless puppy tied up in a plastic bag at the bottom of the bin.
Hillsborough County Animal Patrol Officer Kristie Lewis acted quickly to save the neglected pup.
"He was panting real hard," she told ABC News. "I took the puppy from them and put a piece of ice on him to try and cool him down, stuck a little bit of water on my finger and put it in his mouth."
Police then found three more puppies from the same litter and their mom underneath a nearby shed.
The pups and their mom are recovering well, and the family is happy to be together again.
